Are We All Children of God?

An old argument is that everyone is a child of God, since we are all made by him. Many people believe this, many teach it, and many more still live by it. But are we all children of God just because he made us? 

Well, we're do not become God's children by default of creation. From among all the nations of the earth, God chooses his people. The Jews were his people, yet they were not his children. It was the coming of Christ Jesus that made it possible for son's to be made from among the people. 

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the power to become children of God. 
                                                              John 1: 2

So if you have not accepted Christ into your life, you don't have the power, you don't have the right to be a child of God.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in. 
                                                  Revelation 3: 20

We are all born sinners, and can do nothing to help ourselves. When a man understands this truth, and also recognises that salvation is possible only through the finished work of Christ, he asks Jesus to come into his life. The Holy Spirit will come and create a new man within the person. This is what is known as being born again. 

This new person is spiritual because it is born of the Spirit, in other words, it is born of God; it is a child of God. 

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 
                                                   Roman's 8: 16

There are lots of promises in the word of God. These promises are more or less terms of contracts. While some are based on general principles and can work for almost everyone, most are for the children of God. So before you can avail yourself of the provisions of these promises, you must be born again. That is how important it is!

So if you have not taken the step, if you have not accepted Christ as your Lord and Saviour, it is important that you do so. Being a child of God brings a person into a whole new world, and opens a whole new world of opportunities.

Lord Jesus, I need You. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.
